Reducing Critical Access Risk in SAP
August 21, 2026 · 7 min read · CoreSAP Talent Insights
How to identify, remediate, and continuously monitor critical authorizations and segregation-of-duties conflicts.
Most SAP audit findings trace back to a small set of critical authorizations — SAP_ALL, debug-with-change, table maintenance, and user administration — assigned more broadly than intended.
Begin with a baseline report of critical access and SoD conflicts. Remediate by redesigning roles rather than adding mitigating controls wherever possible, and introduce firefighter access for genuine emergencies.
Finally, make monitoring continuous. A monthly review cadence with clear ownership keeps risk from creeping back in as roles evolve.
